The Sea of Cortez, with its remote and ruggedly beautiful coastline, is a favorite destination for experienced and novice sea kayakers —and for good reason. Hundreds of unexplored coves, uninhabited islands, and miles of mangrove-lined estuaries play host to sea lions, turtles, and nesting birds. Just the shell of your kayak separates you from dolphins, gray whales, coral reefs, and over 600 species of fish.
Not only is your kayak the best way to explore placid lagoons, volcanic caves and natural arches—it’s the only way to uncover these otherwise inaccessible treasures. If this is your first time in a sea kayak, our expert guide will walk you through every step. By the end of the week, you’ll be the expert.
Day 1 – Sunday Arrive in La Paz Welcome to La Paz -
You’ll be greeted at the airport and escorted to your hotel. This evening we’ll have a brief orientation in preparation for our morning departure.
Day 2 – Monday Isla Espiritu Santo – B/L/D -
Our private skiff quickly transports us across the channel to Espiritu Santo Island. Our exclusive beach base camp is already set up, awaiting our arrival. Guides will offer complete instruction in safety and technique. On our first excursion, we’ll stay close to home and still be amazed by the beauty and abundance of life below the glistening surface. Upon our return, a delectable dinner is prepared and served by our base camp cooks.
Day 3-5 – Tuesday through Thursday Isla Espiritu Santo – B/L/D each day
The only thing more beautiful than a sunrise on the Sea of Cortez is the golden sunset. In between, your days will be filled with trips to sparkling coves and sea lion rookeries. Bask on the beach or explore the aquatic circus under the surface. You can go fishing or watch for dolphins and whales in season. Come prepared to enjoy exceptional snorkeling in warm water. Your guides are ready to take you in any direction in search of adventures and discovery.
Day 6 – Friday Return to La Paz – B/L/D -
The morning is yours to enjoy at your pace. Swimming, kayaking, snorkeling, and hiking are all available. After lunch we’ll speed back to La Paz for an afternoon at leisure to see the town. We’ll conclude with a farewell dinner.
Day 7 – Saturday – B
Return flight home You’ll be transferred to the airport for your return flight.
